    C o m m e r c i a l A v i a t i o n

A segment that includes the techniques and science required for the manufacture, maintenance and safe operation of aircraft for the transport of cargo and/or passengers. The first commercial flights were made early in the First World War, in the United States of America and expanded rapidly after the war ended. Currently, there are hundreds of airlines transporting passengers and cargo in all five continents.

    P a s s e n g e r A i r T r a n s p o r t a t i o n

Air transport of passengers, reached levels of safety and regularity that became an important factor of integration within and between countries. With the event of the globalization of trade, tourism and industrial activities, the airplane became a quick and safe means of transport, corresponding to the wishes of the activities of today.

The growth of this type of market segment (air passenger), was hard hit after the attacks of September 11 in the United States, entering into a phase of losses which still remain to date in some companies. However, nowadays a sustained growth in the number of passengers for the next ten years can be foreseen, so surely there will be a significant increase in the worldwide fleet of aircraft to transport passengers.

Currently there is controversy between the major manufacturers about the desirability of building huge aircraft with high passenger capacities.

With a land area of 8.5 million square kilometers, spread over 5,527 municipalities and the second largest airport infrastructure in the world, Brazil is one of the most promising markets for the scheduled air transport. The regular air transport system is supplied by five companies that provide domestic and international flights (TAM, GOL, VARIG, OCEANAIR and AZUL) and 15 regional companies (Trip, NHT, Passaredo, Air Minas, Cruiser, Team, Sete, Abadeté, Rico, Puma Air, Sol, Pantanal and TAF), with a volume of about 100 million passengers per year and should reach 160 million in five years.
